A lot of our problems with trust - in relationships, politics, and consensus protocols come from conceptualising it as a binary trust/no trust thing, or a simple spectrum. How I think about trust, a level system:

@autotrnslucence Nice! Next I'd add stuff about context. See also @bonnittaroy's excellent interview on @dthorson's podcast: A Source Code Analysis of Trust (CC @mimercha) anchor.fm/emerge/episode…

Knowledge is discovered by all of us, each adding to the whole. Wisdom is rediscovered by each of us, one at a time.

I'd like to see more Effective Altruism folks on Twitter. (Are EAs relatively disinclined to tweet, or is it just a reflection of how small the movement is? Has anyone tried to estimate how many EAs there are on the planet?)

@EvanSandhoefner Have been to yearly EA gatherings since 2014 and am dedicating my life to doing the highest-leverage things I can find towards humanity's survival and thrival. I don't tweet about "EA" though because it's not the right level of abstraction for twitter discussion for me.

I'm currently into my 3rd month of being a free agent – happily unemployed, growing out my hair, eating and sleeping at weird hours, tweeting excessively... and I absolutely love it. I don't think I would have had the guts to do this if not for these POVs on time and space

@visakanv Oh fuck yeah! I'm really curious to know what (if anything in particular) you're oriented towards purposewise. Or if this space is designed to also give you the chance to figure that out.

@webdevMason I think the answer here is "yes". With incredibly brilliant people and terrible terrible puns, it is "what the fuck".

@Malcolm_Ocean super big picture is to develop as a thinker, writer, people-r; trying to be as open-minded as possible to how I do that, following curiosity. may have already spent a bit too much time in purely-open-ended-space, reorienting slightly to optimize for writing output for a while

@visakanv Oh cool! Looking forward to reading your new stuff. Lmk if you publish (or draft!) something you think I'd be particularly into

The library is one of the last precious city-spaces on Earth where you aren’t expected to buy stuff. For a while the Internet was like that, but it hasn’t been that way in a while now

@visakanv This is also one the amazing things about Black Rock City (ie Burning Man). The decommodified culture means that there's a ton of interesting stuff to explore without that whole thingy looming over. Space to orient by desire, including "do I _want_ to give a gift to this person?"
