how to deal with replies that aren’t the type i want to get? - ignore (try & let go & clear mental real estate?) - softblock - block - defend myself as needed/as feels fruitful, so as to practice skillful conflict - humor? - ?? curious how my fellow poasters approach this

@brimmingvessel my approach: 1. if the reply demonstrates open disrespect, usually instablock 2. if the person seems interesting enough that I'd be happy to get good replies, try to steer there, implicitly or with open feedback 3. if it's just kinda okay, well... ignore

@brimmingvessel if I had one account consistently giving meh replies on every single tweet of mine, then I wouldn't ignore it, I'd do what was necessary to make that stop (maybe straight to block, maybe softer touch first)

@brimmingvessel part of visa's magic is yes-and'ing bad replies with some quote tweet that sends them deeper into understanding the kind of game he wants to play which will either turn them off or turn them on, towards playing with him in a way that feels good

@brimmingvessel guessing that eg here the person you're replying to WAS trying to be funny, and that if it's really not your vibe, you don't have a way to yes-and them, or other positive associations with their replies, then just go straight to blocking maybe

@soryukyoko ⚠️ stranger danger ⚠️ lol but yaaa anyways i was asking people i know 👍🏽 and who are interested in connecting IRL 👍🏽

@brimmingvessel instead, as a result of you replying to this one you didn't like, you actually elevated it in the replies above the people saying "yes" and "I'll be there around summer" which doesn't curate the vibe you want (that last one lol wtf)

@brimmingvessel based on scrolling through your last day or so of tweets (which I did to catch up, not re this) and seeing some of the exchanges you're referring to with this question about replies... my sense is that you're wasting time and energy engaging with people you don't like...

@brimmingvessel (/ replies you don't like) ...that you could be spending on engaging with people/replies you DO like and attention amplifies

After having kids, I noticed attention, even negative attention, was intrinsically rewarding for them. I finished connecting the dots when NPC TikTok went viral; a timely response is more impactful than having the reaction be novel or high quality.
