Explaining the good corner of Twitter to people who don't use it

Met some folks in a park today, and said "so yeah, hit me up on facebook or twitter" and got a response like "twitter?! 😲" (not the first time this has happened) and I explained that there's a small but growing scene that's actually good, and she seemed curious to check it out!

I described people supporting each other's "do 100 things" project, like "oh wow great drawing, I'd buy a print of that" and various other elements of the vibe.

I said "we talk about what makes for good community, too" which she appreciated, and I listed things like "not dunking on bad takes because it just signal boosts them"... instead we

focus your time and energy on what you want to see more of

Many people who don't use twitter still cannot *imagine* that we're having this much fun & learning & connection here. They react like I'm telling them I'm throwing a chill party in a warzone. More disbelief than judgment or concern, just like "what?"

Curious who else has gotten a reaction like this when they talk about strangely earnest twitter in person!

So far 4 friends saying they've each had multiple instances of people responding like this. Those people won't *all* want to join us here, but gradually more will... a tipping point I hadn't been tracking(!?) twitter.com/Malcolm_Ocean/…
