I don't push the button even if in addition to the hypothetical button you have a hypothetical gun

When people ask hypothetical questions you can simply refuse to answer. When they say “ok but what if you had a gun to your head”, you can still refuse; the gun is still hypothetical. I’ll answer if you care enough to put an actual gun to my head, but you probably don’t.

If thought experiments have taught me anything it's that I'm really glad humans don't have access to any magical buttons.

if you asked me what's the biggest problem in my life right now, i'd have a lot of trouble answering. but i guess if you put a gun to my head, i'd have to say it was the gun
