Recording song demos to find music collaborators

just recorded a halfhour video of me singing 6 songs I've written, mostly just acapella, in search of people to collaborate with me to turns some of these songs into actual tracks that can be bought & streamed & so on. Will edit & upload soon, hopefully tonight!

Was a neat experience! I feel pretty satisfied with the quality of my performance, although I have a little of that taste>skill thing re ~showmanship. That is, I can tell I don't have as much of the youtube equivalent of vibing with a crowd like a busker. But it's ok!

I don't have video editing software but I know how to use ffmpeg so I'm just finding commands to crop/zoom the video and combine the video & audio. 😂🤓 It's way faster as long as you can find exactly the command you want, because there's no need to visualize extra stuff in RAM.

welp, various things have got this going a bit slower than I originally imagined, but it should still be done sometime tomorrow one way or another

damn, from this tweet and my subsequent realizing that the tempos don't change as much as I thought... I probably just wanna re-record the demo with a metronome so that people can start playing with them directly. low friction VITAL for spontaneous collab

@Malcolm_Ocean are they recorded with a metronome? if so i'd be interested in seeing if i can help with production

goddamn, the track I started with for this turns out has a bunch of TWO BEAT bars like every verse or chorus has an extra 2 beats tacked onto the end. which is tripping up my metronoming. not sure how to fix in bitwig but I'm making progress. (cc @SeanMombo @mayfer)

so far I think I'm just gonna put the whole thing in 2/2 time (so the difference between the 1 and the rest of the beats is less distracting) and not worry about the slippage and make a lil v1

okay, have finished an initial version & sent it to a couple people. may post tomorrow!
