In the context of Leader vs Follower — What is the least negatively connotated word for "follower"

@SeanMombo I don't think there is a single "context of Leader vs Follower". I've recently been digging Peter Koenig's "Source" model, where a source doesn't have followers but helpers (ppl helping realize their vision). I might've used "channeler" or something to extend "source" metaphor 🤔

@SeanMombo Great summary of that model on workwithsource.com I've seen lots of people try to adopt this model and end up talking about "source and follower" though, which is a huge type error in my opinion. Like referring to your kid as an employee.

@SeanMombo Taking the "leader & follower" metaphor seriously, one might reanimate it as "trailblazer" and "signposter" or something. Like one who finds a new route and another who makes it more easy to traverse for future. Idk.

@SeanMombo I've led myself to an odd take here: perhaps in this sense a "thought leader" is arguably more legitimately doing *leadership* than a captain of a team or head of a company. The thought leader has new thoughts before other people have them, and others follow afterwards.

@SeanMombo Whereas the head of a company isn't *leading* people anywhere in the metaphorical sense. Although I guess in the sense of having a vision first, though in some sense that's a subcase of thought leadership 😆

@SeanMombo I think it's important to explicitly differentiate: - Source of vision - role model - mentor - manager/director - star performer (vs supporting actor / backup singer) & many more

@SeanMombo @CoryWong has a great clip about being a sideman, and he explicitly talks about vision but also kind of about the frontman, so that's the first & last of the bullets in the previous tweet. Those two could (in music or other contexts) be separate though. youtube.com/watch?v=Swh4uZ…
