Finding this article helpful for understanding how long viruses persist on various surfaces. They don't remain infectious as long as they're there. Seems part of the reason to disinfect hard surfaces is that they live over 10× longer there than on skin. pbs.org/newshour/scien…

Another thing you can do with oft-touched hard surfaces like doorknobs & fridge handles is cover them in copper tape, on which viruses die really quickly. Hospitals that do this have major decreases in infections. amazon.com/s?k=copper+foi…

Here's a scientific paper about antimicrobial copper: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P… (it talks about reduction in logs/hour, but idk if this is base-2 or base-10. Guessing base-10.) And here's a more general article: theconversation.com/copper-is-grea…

Also a few things I have read hint at the idea that the copper needs to be cleaned regularly in order to maintain these properties. Perhaps otherwise regularly touched surfaces get coated with a layer of skin oils & dust. Important to keep in mind! copperalloystewardship.com/introduction-t…
