few realize this, but the human species has different sexes, biologically, than it did before hormonal birth control and we're still at the very early stages of adapting to the impacts of that
the word "woman" existed 100 years ago, but the creature it referred to at that time basically doesn't exist now (in developed countries) merely the *option* to unilaterally take birth control already makes women now different from women before
I use "biologically" in the first tweet because I'm trying to tap a certain intuition; it's technically false but it might as well be true, because human biology doesn't exist separate from human memetics
ah right. it's true. "genetically" would have been false, but "biologically" is true sorta like epigenetics, but not quite epimemetics either twitter.com/HephaistosF/st…
how genders will then reorganize around the change in sexes, is an open question there are currently a lot of memetic wars around this but there was never a right answer. there were just the answers that certain cultures used. (ones who got it wrong enough didn't reproduce)
the formerly-stable old gender answers clearly don't apply to the current sex reality meanwhile, a lot of the new answers are figuratively throwing out literal babies with the bathwater they rightly find stagnant & musty
here's a related thread puzzling about the ways in which different questions underlying "are you a woman?" often have different answers (and are evolving over time) and why it's bad to consider anybody (or any sub-answer) the sole authority on the topic
