The absence of long-haired men in panels and media

I don't think very often about how unusual my long hair is, but I just looked at some collections of panels decried as non-diverse and I've yet to find a single long-haired man in any of them. This demographic is suspiciously narrower than "[white] man".

after a bit more scrolling I've come across one Italian man with long hair and one zany wavy-haired guy presenting at a biohacker conference. this is out of 100s of photos.

I would just like to say that it is my conviction That longer hair and other flamboyant affectations Of appearance are nothing more Than the male's emergence from his drab camoflage Into the gaudy plumage Which is the birthright of his sex

Memories of years of my usually-pretty-open-minded dad saying "you really should cut your hair" every time I was doing co-op job interviews. I joked about this once with my interviewer, a man with long red-dyed hair (for a bay area tech co). (We were talking about my vibe.)

Just made a connection between this thread and this emoji tweet. Long-haired men are underrepresented!

PSA: I almost always use the woman emoji on here 🤷‍♀️ because she's likes purple and has long hair, like me. We need to talk about underrepresentation of long-haired men in iconography. 🙅‍♀️ ...I'm not actually wanting to open that convo up in its usual form 🤦‍♀️ This tweet = parody.

more long-haired men erasure smh

If you want a 101-example of bias in datasets and their results, I present to you: #dalle

in hundreds of movies on my plane, only 4-5 men featured with long hair, and none of them are normal dudes—knights, kings, and a psycho. - Gawain from The Green Knight - William Wallace from Braveheart - the king from The King's Daughter - Aquaman - Joker

when I entered Singapore last year, they pulled me aside and scanned my luggage. some countries do this for everybody coming in, but in this case it was special later learned that if I'd tried to visit a few decades ago they would have forced me to cut my hair or GTFO! 😳💇‍♂️
