thread collecting tweets about twitter as a collective consciousness or the sense in which mind is happening here
this tweet is what prompted me to make this thread rn, tho I've been thinking about this for 5-6 years > i fucking love it when i can see thoughts circulating between people on here like yes hahaha we're one big giant brain let's fucking go
> they don't tell you when you sign up for the internet that you're learning to notice, harmonize with, and participate constructively in a self-organizing, emergent collective consciousness at the very edge of humanity's shared capabilities
and of course from @jack: > I love Twitter. Twitter is the closest thing we have to a global consciousness.
that sentence was itself a reference (whether he remembered directly) of a phrase he used 7 years earlier, in a pre-threads tweetstorm in which he delights in users inventing the tweetstorm (& hashtags, @-mentions) thread here: x.com/search?q=from%…
> The desire paths will assemble a mindcity paved with the best individual thoughts (this thread talks a bunch about twitter as an especially-potent medium for thought-remixing) (salient/ironic to note here that they broke full-quoted-tweet-preview)
> "why haven't we seen a picture of the human superorganism yet"
