Letting inspiration flow by asking latent intentions to let go

I have this hazy sense that this works in part via inspiration sometimes inspiration happens from a stray thought in the shower, sometimes it happens from seeing a relevant tweet to remix/critique then you have to allow it to actually flow

I realised today that I’m actually pretty happy like 90% of the time now what I have been interpreting as low motivation is actually low need-to-move-away-from-suffering, which is what has historically been my motivating force so now I get to explore happy-led motivation

there are a lot of things that can get in the way of it flowing they can be internal senses of something-else-to-be-doing, whether that's an external obligation or an urge to go for a walk there are also things like the little (🔔2) that showed up while I was typing this tweet

for either of these, there is a sense I have experienced, of asking every other latent intention if it will let go so that I can focus on whatever it is I've chosen to focus on

have you considered that maybe the reason your thoughts are interrupting your meditation is that you didn't actually get their buy-in to take time to meditate, and they're tasked with taking care of something that's overdue, so of course they're trying to do that right now

pomodoros can be reunderstood as a way to organize that letting-go process ALLOWING yourself to do what you want to do

a thread on an experience of pomodoros as a form of freedom, rather than forcing 🍅 during (25min) work block: the chosen intention is free to veto any other intention/inclination/urge 🍏 during (5min) break: ANY intention is free to veto any other

I've written about this dance of inner wills in a very poetic form here. I'm still far from practicing it all the time, but I'm circling around deepening into it. malcolmocean.com/2023/03/art-is…

so yeah, I don't claim to have it all figured out, but I have a pretty good overall feel for the problemspace here and I'm super down to jam about it, on twitter or more focusedly at these workshops next weekend tickets: intend.do/event/gci?tw=m…

I've been part of running online intentionality workshops for 6+ years, and we're pretty seriously considering rebranding them this year given how much our philosophy & approach has evolved in that time. "Goal-Crafting Intensive" ➔ "Beyond Goals Workshop"? Some reflections:
