not sure if this connotation was intended but having recently gotten into Billy Joel's song Movin' Out via Vulfpeck's MSG II, I read into "cadillac" not just "overkill" but also "poor man's fancy car"

Cadillac tasks: I believe many estimates of LLM productivity boosts are over-estimates because people are using them for cadillac tasks: things that would take you a long time unaided, but have only marginal additional value.

@Malcolm_Ocean David Krakauer has a framing here I enjoy: cooperative vs. competitive collaborative artifacts. The abacus (and Complice) is "cooperative" bc the user's capacity is expanded even once the artifact's removed. But the GPS is "competitive" because they're left weaker without it.

EBS for Juxtapositions @GreenBeans80277 ·

@chrislakin Metaphorically I describe this as the “red team” in my mind. My mind gets exposed to a new system, it changes me, but then equilibrium (red team) sets in and defuses the effectiveness of my new system.
