Goal-Crafting Intensive meta-thread! Thread to be ongoingly updated with all of the twitter threads I write related to our epic online GCI workshops we've run for years, around New Year's & at other times. complice.co/event/gci?tw=m…
One of the first threads I did talking about the GCI framework:
This thread has a great summary of the basic structure of the workshop:
One of the main confusions people have about "goals" is the idea that you should feel bad if you have them. This & related confusions are cleared up in this 🔥 thread:
Speaking of which, what even is a goal? Here's the definition we use: (this tweet just below is not really a thread, but contextualizes the following thread)
And here's a thread that goes into depth about what happens when you remove one of those key ingredients, inspired by people demonstrating what happens to cookies when you change the recipe:

Meanwhile, there are a few components you *don't* need in order to have a goal, as far as we're concerned. (this tweet is actually from the systems-vs-goals thread already linked, but contextualizes the following thread)
And this thread takes each of these: 📅due date #⃣numerical metric 🏁state of finality and for each one, asks these questions: • why do we think we need this? • how can it mess you up? • when might you want it anyway?
Here's another thread expanding the concept of goal (is goal even the best word? what else might we call them?) which wasn't written to point people at our workshops but is definitely relevant:
Here's a thread contrasting GCI with a similar event @fortelabs runs:
Relatedly, a thread about how easy it is to not complete courses you sign up for, that reflects on how that implicitly went into the design of GCI, having it be all at once so you either go or don't, and with time to work while there rather than homework.
Anyway, one of the unique things about GCI is that you get DEEP coaching via chat from multiple coaches at once. This isn't just protips: we can untangle major internal conflicts & help you find your learning edge.
A few months ago I collected a dozen rave reviews, which I'll be adding to as more people share their experiences on Twitter. Will probably also do a testimonials thread of stuff from our feedback form soon too.
Here's the testimonials thread, ongoingly updated with quotes we get from people at the end of the workshops! @SarahAMcManus put most of these together:
New thread on coaches, from Mary's vantage point! Some new faces and in any case some new descriptions:
Sarah wrote a thread on this "is a fit" vs "not a fit" question! Some of this is about the content of the workshop, and some of it is also about the format!
