@ricvolpe well that was easy, damn feels like cheating lol anyway okay, let's see how it goes!
@ricvolpe I think it makes sense to expect that self-energizing motivation will sorta feel like cheating, until we get used to it to be clear, in order for this to not goodhart super hard into all sorts of bullshit, this also requires people to be able to actually know what they want
@ricvolpe and would also require others (in this case me) to be able to detect when someone is saying "yeah I would be stoked to do that" and what they actually mean is "I feel like I should be more involved and so I should feel like doing this thing I obviously could technically do"
@ricvolpe and then that person would also somehow have to respond creatively, so as not to minimize the amount of problem created for the person who would then be thinking "I must participate also I am not allowed to participate"
@ricvolpe To be clear, wanting to be involved or to contribute can generate stokedness towards doing some particular action that one wouldn't be stoked about absent that context, but this is different from "I should be involved"
@ricvolpe we need to not get dogmatic about people (not) forcing themselves to do things, ofc which is a whole mess
@ricvolpe but anyway, yeah, this is where I feel my energy come alive towards the barnraising metaproject—figuring out these social nuances of self-energizing motivation these are the things that excite me about this project! this is how it plugs into my vision
